We've been through a lot in the fifteen years that we've been running a Casa Rural. Read along with the most special stories.
Wrong destination
We once had guests who would arrive late at night and we were waiting for them. We thought it was taking a bit long and after a while we got a phone call, that they had arrived in Guaro but that it would still take a while before they would arrive. It turned out that they had driven to another Guaro, more than an hour away from us. Until then we didn't even know that there was another Guaro relatively close to us.
Locked outside
After a nice barbecue evening Dan came up with the typical Romanian spirit Țuică. Most of them liked it, especially one of our male guests. He stayed with one other guest. It got quite late and when he walked to his house he discovered that he didn't have a key at all. In order not to wake his wife he decided to lie down on a sunbed by the pool. Well, it doesn't rain often here but he was unlucky that it did rain that night. The next morning I already wondered what that sunbed was doing under the canopy by the dining table.
Bet
Another story in which the famous Țuică from the previous story plays the leading role. Again after a dinner Dan told the guests about the strength of the drink. A bet was made that if one of our guests could drink the whole bottle and still be able to walk upright, we would take him out to dinner. Dan went to get the bottle but forgot something upstairs. In the meantime while he was gone we poured the Țuică into another bottle and filled the bottle of the strong drink with water. Once downstairs the guest put the bottle to his mouth and drank it empty in one go with some theatrical snorting. Dan's eyes almost jumped out of their sockets and he could hardly believe what had just happened. I don't know which thought was stronger, how it was possible that a Dutchman was capable of this or the disappointment that he had just bet his delicious drink.
Drunken ant
We have very large ants in the garden and one evening there was one on the table and it crawled into a beer bottle. It sat in the layer of beer on the bottom for a while. When we noticed it and threw the ant out on the table, the ant was really drunk. It could hardly walk and it kept leaning on its backside and sitting on its head with its legs. We laughed a lot about it.
Head first
In Molineta we had very small windows in the bedrooms. One evening or actually in the middle of the night one of our guests came to get us. She had left the key on the inside of the door. She thought she would get a key from us but with a key in the door on the other side it did not fit in the lock. Luckily she was very slim and she could go through the window. With her head first so that was quite exciting because the window was quite high. But eventually we could go back to bed after an hour.
Life Guard Dan
A little boy was on holiday with his grandparents. One afternoon, when we were all sitting at the table by the pool, Dan suddenly jumped up and rushed to the pool. It turned out that the little boy had fallen into the pool and the rest of us had missed it. The grandfather was so grateful to Dan for being attentive.
Partly because of this, we have a raised swimming pool at Nido with a gate at the stairs.
Wrong B&B
In the summer a woman came into our garden and said: “Hello, it was hard to find but here I am”. I immediately got stressed because we were fully booked. Had I made a double booking? It turned out that instead of us in La Molineta she had to be at el Molino. What a relief!
